Patrizia Van der Weken holds the Luxembourg records in the 60m, 100m and 200m, and in 2025 delivered the country's first ever medal at the European Athletics Indoor Championships.

Born on 12 November 1999 in Luxembourg City, Patrizia Van der Weken has established herself as the fastest sprinter in Luxembourg's history, holding the national records in the 60m, 100m and 200m.
As the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham approach, we sat down with the athlete who now benefits from the support of Alleyesonme.jobs, which has become one of her official sponsors on her road to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Coached since the age of 14 by Frenchman Arnaud Starck, Patrizia Van der Weken attended Sportlycée, the school dedicated to elite athletes in Luxembourg, before going on to higher education at Lunex University, all while relying on the support structures of the Luxembourg Institute for High Performance in Sports (LIHPS), the Luxembourg Olympic and Sporting Committee (COSL) and the Ministry of Sports.
From there, her progression has been steady. She first made her mark on the international stage by becoming world university champion over 100m in 2023 in Chengdu, China, before qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, a first for a Luxembourg athlete in this discipline.
"I didn't win just for myself, I also won for Luxembourg and for the country's sporting sector."
The year 2025 marked a turning point. She claimed Luxembourg's first ever medal at the European Athletics Indoor Championships, finishing third in the 60m in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, a performance she repeated a few weeks later at the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China, running 7.07 seconds.
"A lot of things have to come together to win a medal and produce a good result," explains Patrizia Van der Weken. "So it's a mix of emotions when it happens, a lot of joy, and the pressure lifting off my shoulders."
These first medals also resonated on a national level: "It meant a lot to those around me, my family, my coach, the federation... It was also my way of thanking them for their support over all these years. I didn't win just for myself, I also won for Luxembourg and for the country's sporting sector."
This exceptional season earned her the title of Luxembourg's "Best sportswoman" for the third year in a row at the Awards Night of the Luxembourg sports press association, ahead of triathlete Jeanne Lehair.

The Luxembourg company has stated its intention to support the athlete at competitions held across Europe and beyond over the coming seasons. This partnership adds to the other support the sprinter already benefits from, notably her contract with sportswear brand Nike, signed in early 2025, and other Luxembourg players such as Foyer Group, "Let's Make It Happen" and Volkswagen Luxembourg (Losch).
Patrizia Van der Weken is preparing to compete at the European Athletics Championships, held from 10 to 16 August 2026 at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, UK. Already qualified directly for the semi-finals of the women's 100m, she will therefore skip the heats and enter the competition on Monday afternoon, with the final scheduled for the same day in the evening.
An event long prepared for by the Luxembourg athlete, who will approach this competition on the back of her recent third-best world performance of the 2026 season, achieved over 60m in Poland. Her goal this Monday: to secure another medal. "I'm going in with confidence because I've really felt good these past few weeks, with some very good times. It shows that everything is on track."
Despite the high level of this new edition of the European Championships, her motivation is at its peak. "The competition is tougher this year, with around ten athletes who could qualify for the final," analyses Patrizia Van der Weken. "That said, the clock is the same for everyone. It's up to me not to forget who I am and what I'm capable of. Either way, I'm going to fight to give my best."
